Zak Bauman - Dance Instructor

Zak Bauman is a ballroom dance instructor who brings over 20 years of dance experience to her teaching.
She was trained as a classical ballet dancer and then discovered the joy of modern dance while attending the University of California Santa Cruz. After graduating from UCSC she moved to New York City where she danced as a professional modern dancer for 4 years. She returned to Santa Cruz and spent the next 3 years dancing for the Mel Wong Dance Company. She has been teaching at the Palomar Ballroom since 1998 and is currently teaching there as an independent Contractor.

Zak is available to teach private lessons, groups, wedding couples, and for parties.
She teaches all the American Ballroom and Rhythm dances: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Chacha, Swing, Salsa, Mambo, Bolero, Samba, Hustle, Romantic 2-step and more. Zak specializes in smooth technique for competitive students, but also enjoys working with social dancers.
Zak teaches lessons at the Palomar Ballroom, but is available to teach out of your home for an additional fee.

"Say you saw it in Cruzy!"

Mambo Tropical, is a non-stop journey through some of the hottest contemporary and classic salsa sounds of our time. Steeped in the rich Afro-Cuban music traditions, and led by the sultry and elegant vocals of Yvette Watts, this collection of powerful and sometimes moving music, is sure to be a favorite of Latin music fans everywhere!
Vocalist Yvette Watts has always been passionate about music. Born into a musical family, Yvette starting singing at a young age, and over the years her dynamic and captivating vocal abilities flourished. After impressing several music industry veterans, Yvette was invited to perform on the TV show Buscando Estrellas and won first prize at the Festival de la Cancion Latino Americana. She has toured throughout Europe with the Cuesta College Vocal Jazz Ensemble and studied with Russian opera legend Marina Koshetz as well as with Nela Girolo. After settling in the Bay Area, Yvette teamed up with classically-trained musician Teresa Orozco-Peterson and veteran performer Jim Polizzi to form the foundation which would later evolve into the 11-piece ensemble now known simply as, Yvette Y Su Orquestra Mambo Tropical.
After performing non-stop over the past few years, in late 2004, Mambo headed into the studio to begin recording the first tracks of their debut CD, and quickly gained the attention of Latin music legend, Pete Escovedo. Pete was so impressed with the group that he decided to work with the band on the CD as a featured musician.
With the new CD now complete, the group is now gearing up for the Spring and Summer concert season, which will include several CD release events in various cities around the US.
